Almost 200 entrepreneurs are on our waiting list, looking for a spot. We didn’t expect that much demand when we opened PoPPo last year, our temporary department store in Amsterdam. So we’re now working on a second location, a few doors down.
Food courts are everywhere. Why no beauty court on the high street? In the new PoPPo you’ll soon find hairstyling, lashes, massages and head spa. You walk in crumpled and come out reborn.
Do you know an owner with an empty shop? We know who belongs in it. Get in touch.

A new generation of third places. Brands are tired of the fight for online attention and are looking for real places to build a bond with their audience. Proper Mag goes a step further: brands have discovered the third place. Rapha opened a clubhouse, District Vision a café with a “quiet space”, and who remembers Claude’s “zero slop zone” in New York? Online you have a second to grab someone’s attention. In a third place you have an hour.
A travel agency for introverts. Last month Visit Sweden opened a travel agency for introverts in London. Nearly half of Britons call themselves introverted, while city life demands ever more energy. Sweden offers low-stimulus holidays for anyone fed up with the frantic pace of the city. More on low-stimulus cities in our Urban Calm series on Radar.
A kiosk made for lingering. On the historic staircase of Sant’Ercolano in Perugia, an old newspaper kiosk was turned into a reading spot. Designer Giuseppe Arezzi removed the counter and replaced it with stepped oak seating. The window frames are racks for independent magazines, there’s a free drinking fountain, and outside opening hours you can keep sitting on the platform on the steps. A third place the size of a kiosk, and you don’t have to buy anything.
OK, bye!
